Frequently Asked Questions

What is "weddinged?"

The terms come from the phrase "getting weddinged" and it refers to a couple that is having a wedding ceremony and reception after they have been legally married.

So you are already married?

Legally we are, on April 2nd we had 5 minute ceremony in the gazebo outside of the St Lucie Courthouse, it was just the 2 of us as Fox's family didn't believe that we were doing it since he chose to make the announcement on April's Fools day.

So if you are already married, why have a wedding?

Because we still want to have a ceremony our way (handfasting) and we still want to celebrate with our closest friends and family.

Where will it be?
At Palm Island located in Savannas Recreation Area in Ft Pierce, Florida.

What is this Savannas Recreation Area, anyhow?

The Savannas is an outdoor recreation area providing camping, boating, fishing, and picnic facilities managed by St. Lucie County.

Covering 550 acres and five distinct biological communities, the Savannas provide access to pine flatwoods, wet prairie, marsh, lake and scrub all in a single glance. With the goal to educate as well as recreate, the area provides interpretive trails on both land and water. Due to the unique biological and geographical features, the Savannas received reserve status by the Florida Legislature in 1978. The Savannas is perhaps the last most unique and pristine wilderness area in the United States

What are the wedding colors?
The primary color is blue, besides that there is no set color.

What is a handfasting?

It's a Pagan wedding ceremony, for the full scoop, click here.

Why a handfasting?

Pagan spirituality is a major component of both of our lives and we want our union to be a true union of the soul and we couldn't think of having a ceremony that would be more spiritually meaninful for us.

Do you have "a song"?

We do, it's Accidentally in Love by Counting Crows, listen to it here.

What restaurants are near?

There's fast food and other restaurants just a short driveaway on US1, we specially like the Thai restaurant at the plaza in the intersection of US1 and Midway Rd.  Check out the Travel Info page for a list of restaurants within a 3 mile radius.

Will there be alcohol?

In moderate quantities and limited variety, yes.  If you want beer or something specific BYOB and please, don't drink and drive, you can stay as long as you want and we have tons of space to setup a tent for the night.

Will the event be inside or outside?

It will be outside, rain or shine. Please dress accordingly

Will there be dancing?

Maybe, maybe not.  Not really aiming for it but if it happens we won't stop it.

What type of meal will be served?

Hors d'ouvres, refreshments and cake will be available.

Is this a traditional wedding?

Not at all!  Bandora used to perform at least 10 weddings a year so she doesn't want to be bored at her own. So the wedding will fit Fox's and Bandora's personality.  We are thinking outside the box on this wedding.  No "wedding" music, no white dress, no receiving line, no reserved tables, no tossing the bouquet... and the list goes on...

Where's the After Party?

There is no need for a after party. It's a weekend festival and people can hang out until Sunday morning.  If you plan to get sloshed, please bring a tent or designated driver.

When should I expect a Save the Date card?

No Save-the-Date cards. We saved trees and sent e-mails instead.

We/I'm coming in from out of town, where can we stay?

You can camp with us or you can stay in a hotel, check out the Travel section of this website for the details.

How will people be dressed?

We don't know, but some suggestions can be found at our "what to wear" page.

So what's the theme of this wedding anyway?

Not set theme unless you count Pagan free spirit a theme.

Do I really have to RSVP once I get my invitation? I'm lazy and I don't feel like doing it.

YES, you do! Our head count is essential since we're keeping the guest list very small and unable to include everybody that wants to come. Besides, it's just polite. :)

Do you have a registry?

Yes we do.

OK. So I get the Alternative registry, but a honeymoon registry? What's the deal with that? Is it legit? Don't you think that's tacky?

Yes, a honeymoon registry. It's totally legit And no, it's not tacky. At least to us it isn't. Basically, it breaks down our magnificent cruise to the Bahamas into different activities and their monetary value.

You simply go to the website, select an amount, and it safely puts the money directly into our honeymoon savings. No gifts to wrap, nothing to keep up with! Awesome! With a honeymoon registry, you're actually giving us great memories and the trip of a lifetime, instead of a toaster (already got one) or silverware (got those too.)

But don't worry--for those of you who lean towards the more traditional, we also have a few tangible items on our registry.

Is there parking available?

Yes, there is plenty of parking.  To maintain the natural atmosphore of the setting please park at the entrance to the island and walk in. (It's not far at all).  If you're unable to walk far due to health or disability please let us know in advance so that we can arrange for someone to drop you off inside the island and then park the car outside.

What time should I be there?

If you're registering to camp with us at Fofstival you're welcome to arrive as early as Friday afternoon.  If just coming to the ceremony please at least 15 mins prior to the ceremony start time on Saturday (approx. 10:45am).

If you're not familiar with the area please allocate some extra time to find the venue to help us start on time.

Can I bring a date?

This is a very important day for us and therefore have allocated to spend it only with those closest to us.  We do understand how awkward it is to attend an event like this solo. We are trying our best, however, to include as many of our extended friends and family as we can while maintaining an intimate feel. We have a cap on the total number of attendees that is dictated by our budget and theme. If your date has not already been invited, please understand that it probably means we have not planned for them being there.

Are my children invited?

For the most part, we are not going out of our way to make the event kid friendly,  especially those under the age of 10. We have made an exception for the children of a couple of close friends and relatives whose name are listed on the invitation, but overall, we think it best if children do not attend.

Will you be taking his last name?

No, he'll be taking mine. Just kidding! Yes, I will be taking his last name, actually, it has already been done, Bandora has been Mrs. Fox since April.

I don't like primitive camping but want to hang out that weekend.

Camping is not completely primitive as we have flushing toilets and hot showers available.  If that still counts as "roughing it" for you there are hotels several miles away.

What about the weather?

Being Florida in August it can range from mild and beautiful to sticky hot or stormy wet.  Please be prepared for either scenario.  You can check out the weather forecast closer to the date at our travel page.

What if it rains?

Unless you are the wicked witch of the west and plan on melting, then a little water is no problem. The reception will take place in a large pavilion but the ceremony will still be outdoors.

Where do you want the gifts sent?

For safety purposes we're not posting our mailing address on this page. If using our registry our shipping address will be provided or you can use Bandora's PO Box.  Jessica Fox  PO Box 8363, Port St Lucie, FL 34985

Shall I bring a camera?

Please do! We don't have a professional photographer and want tons of photos from as many angles and perspectives as possible.

You can easily and conveniently upload your pictures at http://photos.foxwedding.net

Is there anything I should bring?

If you're camping with us make sure that you bring all the gear needed to have a comfortable weekend.  If you're just joining us for the ceremony, please dress comfortably and elegantly.  We will have sunblock and insect repellant available but if you have a sensitive skin (or brand preference) please bring your own.

What if my question isn't answered here?

E-mail Bandora through the Contact Us page and she'll answer your question directly and maybe even add it to this page.
